غزة والهولوكوست: اختبار الضمير الإنساني لليهودية التقدمية

نداء من ذاكرة الألم المشتركة
قبل ثمانين عامًا، خرج العالم من ظلام المحرقة وهو يردد: “لن يتكرر ذلك أبدًا”. كان هذا الوعد عهدًا إنسانيًا قبل أن يكون يهوديًا، تعهّدًا بأن لا يُسمح لأي قوة أن تحاصر شعبًا أو تقتل أطفاله أو تهدم منازله لمجرد انتمائه العرقي أو الديني.
اليوم، غزة تحترق تحت حصار خانق وقصف لا يفرق بين طفل وجندي. آلاف الجثث، أحياء كاملة تُسوى بالأرض، وأطفال يموتون جوعًا أو تحت الركام. هذا المشهد — الذي يوثق بالصور والتقارير الأممية — يضع اليهودية التقدمية أمام اختبار تاريخي: هل “لن يتكرر” تعني للجميع… أم للبعض فقط؟
أرقام تعري الصمت
منذ 7 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2023، قُتل في غزة أكثر من 50 ألف إنسان، معظمهم مدنيون، وفق بيانات الأمم المتحدة والأونروا.
70% من الضحايا نساء وأطفال، فيما أُصيب عشرات الآلاف، ودُمرت المستشفيات، وارتفع خطر المجاعة إلى مستوى الكارثة الإنسانية[^1].
أصوات من رحم الهولوكوست
ليس الفلسطينيون وحدهم من يصرخون. ناجون من المحرقة وذووهم أصدروا بيانًا جاء فيه:> “لن يكون ‘أبدًا’ صادقًا إن لم يشمل الجميع.”[^2]
هذه الكلمات ليست اتهامًا لليهودية، بل دعوة لها للوفاء بجوهر قيمها: العدالة، الرحمة، حماية المستضعفين.
تحذير من الداخل
من قلب إسرائيل، حذّر قادة أمنيون وأكاديميون وصحافيون من أن التطرف القومي والديني لن يدمر الفلسطينيين فقط، بل سيفتك بالمجتمع الإسرائيلي ذاته.
صحيفة هآرتس كتبت أن الإفلات من العقاب لعنف المستوطنين “يدفع إسرائيل نحو عزلة دولية وانهيار أخلاقي”[^3].
معاداة السامية… تعريف لا يعرف استثناءات
معاداة السامية ليست حكرًا على اضطهاد اليهود. إنها، في جوهرها، كراهية إنسان لمجرد انتمائه لهوية معينة. وعندما يُحاصر شعب ويُقتل أطفاله ويُهدم بيته بسبب هويته، فإن ذلك — مهما كانت الذرائع — شكل من أشكال معاداة السامية ضد الإنسانية جمعاء
رسالة إلى اليهودية المعتدلة
إذا كانت ذاكرة المحرقة قد علمت العالم شيئًا، فهو أن الصمت شريك في الجريمة.
اليوم، يملك اليهود المعتدلون — في إسرائيل وخارجها — فرصة تاريخية: أن يرفعوا صوتهم ضد القتل الجماعي، وأن يمدوا جسور التضامن مع الفلسطينيين، لا بوصفهم خصومًا، بل شركاء في الإنسانية.
لأن الدفاع عن المساواة والكرامة اليوم في غزة، هو دفاع عن مستقبل اليهودية ذاتها، وعن حق أبنائكم وأحفادكم في أن يعيشوا في عالم لا مكان فيه لاضطهاد أي إنسان بسبب هويته.
خاتمة
من أوشفيتز إلى غزة، خيط واحد يربط الضحايا: إنسانيتهم.
والتاريخ لن يحكم على الشعارات، بل على الأفعال. فإما أن يكون “لن يتكرر” عهدًا عالميًا صادقًا، أو يتحول إلى عبارة فارغة تتكرر مع كل جيل من الضحايا.

A Call from Our Shared Memory of Suffering
Eighty years ago, the world emerged from the darkness of the Holocaust with a solemn vow: “Never Again.”
This was not only a Jewish promise — it was a universal human commitment: never again would any people be besieged, starved, bombed, or driven from their homes simply because of their ethnicity or religion.
Today, Gaza burns under a suffocating blockade and relentless bombardment. Thousands of bodies lie under rubble, entire neighborhoods are erased, and children die from hunger or beneath collapsed buildings. These scenes — documented in UN reports and broadcast worldwide — present progressive Judaism with a historic test: Does “Never Again” apply to all… or only to some?
Numbers That Expose Silence
Since October 7, 2023, more than 50,000 people in Gaza have been killed, most of them civilians, according to UN and UNRWA figures.
Seventy percent of the victims are women and children, tens of thousands more are wounded, hospitals have been destroyed, and the risk of famine has reached catastrophic levels[^1].
Voices from the Holocaust Itself
It is not only Palestinians who are speaking out. Survivors of the Holocaust and their descendants have issued a statement declaring:
> “Never Again must mean Never Again for anyone.”[^2]
These words are not an accusation against Judaism — they are a call for it to live up to its deepest values: justice, compassion, and the defense of the vulnerable.
Warnings from Within Israel
From inside Israel, senior security officials, academics, and journalists have warned that ultra-nationalist and religious extremism will not only devastate Palestinians, it will destroy Israeli society itself.
The newspaper Haaretz wrote that impunity for settler violence “is pushing Israel toward international isolation and moral collapse”[^3].
Antisemitism — A Definition Without Exceptions
Antisemitism is not exclusively about hatred of Jews. At its moral core, it is hatred and persecution of any human being based on identity alone.
When a people are besieged, their children killed, and their homes destroyed because of who they are, that — whatever the justification given — is a form of antisemitism against humanity as a whole.
A Message to Progressive Judaism
If the memory of the Holocaust has taught the world anything, it is that silence is complicit in the crime.
Today, moderate and progressive Jews — in Israel and around the world — have a historic opportunity: to speak out against mass killing, to build bridges of solidarity with Palestinians, and to see them not as eternal enemies but as partners in humanity.
Defending equality and dignity today in Gaza is also defending the very moral future of Judaism, and the right of your children and grandchildren to live in a world where no one is persecuted for their identity.
Conclusion
From Auschwitz to Gaza, one thread unites the victims: their humanity.
History will not judge us by our slogans, but by our actions.
Either “Never Again” remains a sincere global pledge, or it becomes an empty phrase repeated as each new generation of victims suffers in turn.
