African Summit in Addis Ababa
By Ibrahim Ebeid. Editorial February 19,2025
The Arab voice salutes Africa for its stand with Palestine and the Palestinian people. The Palestinians and the African people have suffered enormously under brutal Western occupation. Africa and Palestine have many historical ties for centuries. The struggle in Palestine these days is similar to that of South Africa, Palestinian land is being confiscated, ethnic cleansing has been practiced for more than a century, genocide is being committed by the Zionist entity supported by the United States and its allies, the Zionist entity was established on usurped Palestine to be the largest United States military base outside the United States, Iraq was occupied and ruined by the US then delivered to Iran. All these happened to facilitate the expansion of the Zionist entity to make the Zionist entity stronger and larger.
Now the Zionist entity is receiving more support from President Donald Trump, he is threatening to expel the rest of the Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring Arab countries and elsewhere. He wants to make the Gaza Strip a paradise on earth, a colony for him and his racist Zionist friends. The West Bank is facing the same inferno, we are witnessing that in Genin, Tulkarm, and elsewhere in Palestine, colonies and settlements are springing all over, and the Zionist entity is threatening to expel the people of the West Bank to make it completely Jewish and an official part of the entity.
African Union summit in Addis Ababa, on February 15, 2025, rejects Palestinian displacement and Israel’s violations. The final communiqué issued by the 38th Ordinary Summit of the African Union on Sunday stressed that “the displacement of Palestinians from their land is contrary to international law,” the Palestinian Foreign Ministry welcomed that position.
This came according to items from the final statement carried by the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, while the official statement was not issued by the African summit until 08:10 GMT.
According to the same source, “the final communiqué issued by the 38th Ordinary Summit of the African Union, which concluded its work on Sunday in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, stressed that the two-state solution is the only way to end the conflict and achieve stability.”
The final statement condemned “the Israeli war and barbaric aggression on the Gaza Strip, and rejected Israel’s violations of international law and its targeting of civilians and infrastructure.”
”The displacement of Palestinians from their land is contrary to international law,” it said, noting that “Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians and must be prosecuted internationally. It also called on African leaders to “stop any form of cooperation or normalization with Israel until it ends its occupation and aggression against Palestine,” according to the same source.
The summit kicked off on Saturday with the participation of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, along with leaders of African countries and representatives of international and regional organizations.
In his speech to the summit, Abbas reiterated his “absolute rejection of any calls aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their homeland,” pointing out that this “would keep the region in the cycle of violence, instead of going to make peace.”

In a related context, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry announced in a statement Sunday evening that it “welcomes the final statement issued by the African summit, especially the honorable positions contained in it regarding the occupation, Israeli aggression, and the war of extermination against our people, as well as the summit’s rejection of displacement and annexation plans.”
The Arab Voice greets Africa and its people for their support and heroic stand, we call upon you to support Palestine’s liberation from the clutches of Zionism to form a secular democratic state for everyone to live in peace and harmony, exactly like you have done to South Africa.
The Palestinian liberation movement must form a united front and a new government with a new strategy of liberation based on the liberation of Jews and Palestinians from the racist Zionist Western grip.
