Within the framework of international efforts to find a safe way out of the worsening Sudanese crisis, the delegation of the Arab Socialist Baath Party met yesterday morning, Friday, April 3, 2026, with the UN envoy to Sudan, Pekka Haavisto, at his residence in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, at the official request of the envoy, to learn about the party’s vision for the current crisis that Sudan is going through, and to determine its vision to stop the war and restore sustainable stability to the country.

During the meeting, the UN envoy explained that he is in the process of conducting a broad tour to consult the views and positions of the main Sudanese actors, to reach the formulation of a unified and comprehensive vision supported by the United Nations, centered on ending the tragedy of the war, reaching an effective political solution, and addressing the worsening humanitarian catastrophe.

The Ba’ath delegation provided a detailed definition of the party’s identity and premises, reviewed its principled positions on the Sudanese crisis at all its stages, and affirmed its firm adherence – together with the various national forces – to peaceful mechanisms as the only way to end the war.

The delegation stressed the need for any effort to resolve the issue based on a pure and free Sudanese will, free from any external influences, international dictates, or foreign tutelage, to effectively pave the way for an internal Sudanese solution that ensures that the conflict does not recur and blocks the way for the seeds of strife.

In the field, the party delegation emphasized the need for the ceasefire decision to be comprehensive and binding on all those who carry weapons, without exception, to ensure the stability of the agreement and its non-breach by any party.

The delegation also placed a top priority to remedy the worsening humanitarian catastrophe, calling for the need to seriously seek to increase the volume of humanitarian aid directed to the victims of the war, whether internally displaced persons or refugees in neighboring countries, while stressing the establishment of strict control measures to ensure that this aid reaches its actual beneficiaries in the various affected areas, and that the ceasefire process be subject to joint control that combines the national and international dimensions to ensure transparency and commitment.

On the political level, the party’s delegation assured the UN envoy that any sustainable and equitable solution must necessarily be based on the constants of Sudan’s territorial and human unity, and the establishment of the foundations of the state’s civility, with an unequivocal affirmation that all state institutions without exception should be subject to sovereignty and civil authority, as the only guarantee of democratic stability.

At the end of the meeting, the party’s delegation handed over to the UN envoy’s office a written copy containing a comprehensive summary of its political vision. For his part, the envoy stressed the great importance of the fruitful discussion during the meeting, praising the valuable insights provided by the party’s delegation and the need to continue this type of deliberation and in-depth dialogue to achieve the desired goals.
