Trump’s authoritarianism undermines the world order and the human rights system, in imminent danger!

Since the establishment of its Universal Declaration on December 10, 1948, the human rights system, along with all the international legal and human rights organizations and UN committees that were later established, has witnessed a “flagrant violation” like what it is witnessing today during the Trump era in his second term (2025). The international system and human rights, which were established in response to the repercussions of World War II to guarantee fundamental rights internationally, are now being subjected to a “flagrant” violation under Donald Trump and his administration, by shaking the foundations of democracy and bypassing international laws and norms.
Trump began his second term with actions and tasks that are completely outside “not only the provisions of the US Constitution, but also from the international conventions and laws that regulate the relationship between countries and protect the human rights stipulated in all international laws and UN conventions.” It announced the withdrawal of the United States from 66 UN organizations, including 35 UN entities, which caused major repercussions on the programs and plans of these bodies, and works to spread racist hate speech, threats to human rights and climate organizations, and attacks on sovereign countries without any authorization, neither from the Security Council nor even from the US Congress. Trump overthrew the president of Venezuela and arrested him and his wife and transferred them to the United States of America, pledged control of Venezuela’s oil reserves, made blunt threats to Mexico, Colombia and Cuba, threatened or rather demanded control of the Danish island of Greenland, threatened to annex Canada and make it the 51st state of the United States of America, threatened to recover the Panama Canal, and the praise of threats and threats is repeated without any regard for the serious repercussions of these combined measures, which are characterized by paranoia and excess power, which will naturally lead to The situation is the erosion of the international system, and the dominance of the logic of power and oppression in exchange for the decline of the principle of democracies, which makes the world live in turmoil and chaos (economic, security, political…).
Many UN organizations have issued reports showing the consequences of the US president’s policies not only on the world system but also on the entire human rights system, and even on the US interior. Among them is Human Rights Watch, which released its World Report 2026, as an annual review of human rights in the world, under the title: “Will Human Rights Survive in Trump’s World?” and described the situation as bleak.
The report argues that the global human rights system is in grave danger, and that as a result of sustained pressure from President Trump, the rules-based international order is being crushed. In this context, 2025 can be considered a turning point, as in a short time in his second term, the Trump administration launched a large-scale attack “on the fundamental pillars of American democracy and the rules-based world order” that the United States helped to establish. The Trump administration has undermined confidence in the sanctity of elections, curtailed government accountability, food aid, and health care subsidies, defied court orders, attacked the independence of the judiciary, trampled on women’s rights, punished freedom of expression, and used government power to intimidate political opponents, the media, law firms, universities, and civil society.
By claiming that there is a threat of ‘civilization erasure’ in Europe and relying on racist stereotypes to portray entire peoples as unwelcome in the United States, the Trump administration has adopted policies and rhetoric that are in line with the ideology of white nationalism, in which migrants and asylum seekers are subjected to inhumane conditions. “Although Trump and his administration have no right to deny asylum seekers due process, mistreatment of undocumented immigrants, or legal discrimination, as required by constitutional legislation or international human rights law, the Trump administration has repeatedly overstepped these laws.” According to Human Rights Watch’s report, the abuses did not stop there: The Trump administration used a law dating back to 1798 to send hundreds of Venezuelan migrants to a notorious prison in El Salvador, where they were tortured and subjected to the most egregious abuses. (The 1798 Act, known as the Foreign Enemies Act, is a U.S. law that gives the president of the United States broad authority to arrest and deport nationals of hostile nations during times of war, and was enacted under the Aliens and Aversion Acts, the only law still in force, and was recently used by Trump as a tool to deport immigrants.)
Trump launched a brutal war against Europe and the European Union for not keeping pace with his chaotic policies, prompting German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to criticize the United States of America in the Trump era, warning of the collapse of values and the transformation of the world order into a “den of thieves.” Also, Britain has its share of Trump’s displeasure, against the backdrop of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s refusal to participate in many missions, the most important of which is not to take part in the US-Iran war, which prompted the US president to express his disappointment with the UK’s position. The French and Spanish positions were similar. Even NATO was not spared from Trump’s stubbornness, who described NATO as “a paper tiger, and they are cowards”, because the alliance countries did not participate in the war launched by the United States of America against Iran, considering that this war is not their war, benefiting from the experience of the Iraq war and their involvement in it, which was later proven to be the lie of the American claims about waging this war. The region is still suffering from its repercussions to this day at the national and international levels.
In the same context, the endless support of the United States of America for the Zionist entity and the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, the escalation of settler attacks and violations in the West Bank, and the threat of the President of the International Court of Justice who demanded Netanyahu’s arrest and accountability for his horrific crimes, constituted a “flagrant” and flagrant violation of international laws and international courts. Trump also wanted to abandon the people of Gaza to make the “Riviera of the Middle East” free of Palestinians, which is seen as ethnic cleansing. His 20-point peace plan failed to achieve peace in Gaza. Still, it worsened the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in light of the Zionist entity’s continued bombing of civilians and the demolition of their homes without any deterrence, accompanied by a barbaric aggression against Lebanon that destroys human beings and stone, with an American green light, regardless of the justifications and causes.
Although many previous presidents were no better than Trump, especially during the George W. Bush term, who mobilized the world to wage war on Iraq and occupy it, and the repercussions of this aggression on the entire Arab region, it has not reached the point of any previous president who has transgresUSd the US Constitution and international legal norms blatantly and scandalously like what we are witnessing today In the era of Trump, in which all moral standards are permissible, they began in the Middle East, passed through Europe, and did not end at the borders of Latin America.
Trump’s policy and administration, governed by the logic of power, arrogance, ambitions to control the world’s wealth, disregard for international law, and threats against allied countries, will undermine the world order founded by previous American presidents.
Will the world survive this attack on values and laws? This depends on the ability and will of other powers to confront and curb this tyranny.
